The Cornerstones Curriculum

Handcrafted in the UK. Delivered with excellence, everywhere

Not every curriculum is created equal. The Cornerstones curriculum is written, designed and quality-assured by a dedicated team of specialist primary educators based in the UK. People who have spent their careers in primary classrooms and curriculum leadership, and who understand what genuinely great primary education looks and feels like.

For British international schools, that provenance matters. The curriculum your teachers are delivering has been built with care, sequenced with expertise, and tested against the highest standards of British primary education. It has not been assembled from third-party content, pooled from external sources, or generated at scale. Every project, every lesson plan and every resource has been made by hand, by experts, for the specific purpose of giving children a great education.

Fifteen years of primary curriculum expertise

Cornerstones Education was founded over fifteen years ago with a single purpose: to give primary schools a curriculum they could be genuinely proud of. That purpose has never changed.

In that time, we have worked with thousands of primary schools across the UK, building a depth of curriculum knowledge and a body of work that no newer entrant to this market can replicate. The Cornerstones curriculum is not a starting point. It is the product of fifteen years of iteration, refinement and direct feedback from the teachers and leaders who use it every day.

Cornerstones International is the next chapter of that story, bringing the same expertise, the same standards and the same commitment to quality to British international primary schools around the world.

British quality with global relevance

The British curriculum has a global reputation for rigour, creativity and breadth. British international schools are the custodians of that reputation in communities around the world, and the curriculum they deliver has to live up to it.

The Cornerstones curriculum is fully aligned to the English national curriculum and underpinned by an evidence-informed four-stage pedagogy: Engage, Develop, Innovate, Express. Every child receives a consistent, high-quality learning experience regardless of which teacher they have or which year group they are in.

At the same time, the curriculum is built to be adapted. Cultural capital and localisation opportunities are embedded throughout, so schools can reflect the heritage, traditions and values of the communities they serve without compromising the coherence or ambition of the curriculum.

And with the 2028 curriculum changes already shaping how the Cornerstones curriculum is being developed, schools that join now are already a step ahead of the field.

British foundations. Global excellence. In every classroom, every day.

Cornerstones has been beyond supportive to us in the initial stages of launch and thereafter, as well as helping teachers who may not be familiar with the English National Curriculum to effectively plan and deliver lessons that meet curriculum standards while also being culturally responsive.
