Our approach

Our approach

A philosophy built on an Italian legacy

Cornerstones is built on a simple conviction: that every child deserves a primary education that is ambitious, coherent and genuinely joyful. Not a curriculum that covers the ground. A curriculum that builds something lasting, knowledge, language, curiosity and the confidence to use all three.

That conviction has shaped everything we have built over fifteen years. And it is the foundation on which Cornerstones International has been designed for British international primary schools around the world.

Consistent pedagogy

Consistent pedagogy

Every project in the Cornerstones curriculum is built around the same four-stage learning framework: Engage, Develop, Innovate, Express.

Engage sparks genuine curiosity, an immersive experience, a big question, something that gives children a real reason to learn. Develop builds secure knowledge and skills through carefully sequenced teaching. Innovate puts that knowledge to work through creative, applied challenges that require children to think rather than reproduce. Express gives children the opportunity to reflect, present and celebrate what they have learned.

This consistent structure does two things that matter enormously in international schools. It gives children a rhythm of learning they come to trust, regardless of which teacher or year group they are in. And it gives teachers, however diverse their backgrounds and training, a shared pedagogical language that makes curriculum coherence possible.
